Events in May: discussing Jordan Peele’s Us & #VoteForwardNL
In May I’m co-hosting two events about Jordan Peele’s latest movie Us. Speaking of horror: it’s almost time to vote for the European Parliament. So yes, we have another #VoteForwardNL event coming up. All three gatherings are discussed in the post below.
Discussing Jordan Peele’s Us
My inner-movie nerd can talk about Jordan Peele’s work for hours and hours. This month, my fellow film lovers and I will do just that. We promise to do so in a way that also keeps the conversation interesting for people who (for example because they’re afraid of horrors) didn’t see the film. Needless to say there will be spoilers.

Sunday May 19 at Bijlmer Parktheater – #VoteForwardNL
#VoteForwardNL is the people’s movement that focuses on inclusivity and representation of the Afro-Dutch communities in Dutch politics. Our work centres around Afro-Dutch politicians, Afro-Dutch voters and NL’s upcoming elections (municipal/local, provincial, national and European). The main focus for our event on Sunday May 19 (after the talk about Jordan Peele’s Us and the movie quiz): The elections for the European Parliament on Thursday May 23 and the gentrification of Amsterdam’s Bijlmer.
With: Daphina Misiedjan, Peggy Burke and Abdullahi Abdulrahman Abdalla.
Your one ticket for €7 is valid for the two part event on Sunday May 19.
